“How far or how fast you run in comparison with others does not matter.
Whether you win trophies or receive great accolades is of little consequence.
The main thing is that you stretch your legs and run.
It is only your shadow that you run against.
It is your own destiny that you stride beside”

This is a bit of fatherly advice I gave our son as he embarked on his long distance running career.
Little did I realize at the time how appropriate it is for many of our life endeavors.
